Over the last 15 years my work has expanded in unexpected, and unexpectedly powerful, ways.
Along with making albums and doing shows, I’ve learned to bring the craft of songwriting off the stage, out of the studio, and into the lives of people who don’t write songs.
Working with groups and individuals, in private sessions and within companies, I use collaborative songwriting to help others see themselves and their environment in new ways, deepening their understanding of their lives. In songwriting workshops, I help beginners and those already drawn to the craft find ways to renew creativity and spark self-expression. Speaking to conferences and corporate gatherings, I use songs and story to tell a story about what I’ve learned as a working artist and how these lessons can help others achieve a more meaningful life. The Be An Artist Program inspires passion and imagination in students of all ages. On university campuses I lead workshops on pursuing a purpose-filled life through trusting your creative instincts. SongwritingWith:Soldiers uses collaborative songwriting to foster creativity, community and strengths.
Through all these different but deeply connected approaches, my goal is to help people recognize that we are all creative, that everyone has a story, and each of us has a unique capacity to move the world.
And maybe we can write a song about it.
