When I was 14 years old I remember telling a friend that I wanted to be a songwriter.
I might have well been saying that I wanted to be an astronaut.
I had no idea how to make this dream happen.
But I wanted it. Bad.
For the last 30 years I’ve been lucky to make a living writing songs, making records and playing shows.
I’ve also found ways to use music to bring about change.
Whether I’m working with the non-profit I co-founded, SongwritingWith:Soldiers,
Writing with companies or individuals to help them tell their story, giving a keynote, or leading a workshop, Music is at the center of what I do.
It’s all based on a song –– actively reaching out to find the story, putting it into words and then hanging it on a melody and letting it can fly.
